Sound Blaster Pro 2 CT1600

I bought this sound card as a child; I think I was 12 or 13 at the time. I washed A LOT of cars to be able to afford this card and rode my bicycle to the "Leidsenhage" Shopping mall (Now: Mall of the Netherlands) where I bought this card from Dixons (a electronics retailer in Northern Europe) brand new and brought it back home. It was my first sound card and I installed it in my 80386SX/33. I immediately fell in love. All my games transformed from the PC Speaker to really good sounds. What a joy!

Sadly, I lost the card over the years so this one is one I purchased on eBay - but it is the exact same I remember buying back in the day. This boxed copy came with all the extras I remember. The plastic-wrap on the box was done by eBay and is not original.

This card was basically a Sound Blaster Pro but with an improved FM Synthesis chip: The OPL3 (YMF262) instead of OPL2. Not many games used the features of this chip to retain Ad Lib compatibility, but one of my absolute favorite games that does is the Cryo Interactive version of Dune. The music in that game really shows what this chip could do.
